ACID – GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS
First the Bad News
Acid in wine, such as tartaric, malic, lactic, citric, acetic, and succinic acids all contribute to a wine’s final body and flavor, it’s one of the key components of a wine. Although there are plenty of studies proving wine (especially red wine) is good for you, however for your teeth – well, there’s no getting around it, the acid in wine hates them.
That acid, unfortunately, likes to eat away at enamel, a calcified, mineral-rich substance that basically forms a thin shell covering the teeth. Despite the fact that enamel is actually “the hardest tissue in the human body,” it’s still susceptible to erosion.
Good News – Actually Great News
